KANI Infrared Filter Series IR580 / IR720 / IR850

The KANI Infrared Filter Series is specially designed for infrared photography enthusiasts and professionals who want to explore a unique world beyond visible light. These filters block visible light while transmitting infrared wavelengths, allowing photographers to create surreal infrared images with dramatic contrast, glowing foliage, deep skies, and artistic monochrome or false-color effects.

Infrared photography reveals scenes invisible to the human eye. Trees and plants can appear bright white, skies become darker and more dramatic, and landscapes gain a dreamlike atmosphere unlike standard photography. Whether shooting nature, architecture, cityscapes, or fine art photography, KANI Infrared Filters provide photographers with creative possibilities that cannot be achieved with ordinary filters.

The series includes three different infrared filter types: IR580, IR720, and IR850. Each filter offers a different infrared wavelength transmission characteristic, allowing photographers to select the ideal style and effect depending on their creative preference and camera setup.

Different Infrared Effects

IR580

The IR580 filter transmits infrared wavelengths beginning around 580nm while still allowing some visible light to pass through. This filter is ideal for photographers who enjoy colorful infrared photography and false-color image processing.

Compared to stronger infrared filters, the IR580 allows more color information to remain in the image, making it popular for artistic infrared landscape photography with vivid blue skies and unique color tones.

IR720

The IR720 filter is considered the classic standard for infrared photography. It provides strong infrared effects while still allowing enough light transmission for versatile shooting.

This filter is especially popular for landscape photography, where foliage appears bright and glowing while skies become darker and more dramatic. IR720 is an excellent balance between monochrome infrared and false-color infrared photography.

IR850

The IR850 filter transmits only infrared wavelengths above 850nm, significantly reducing visible light contamination. This creates strong monochrome infrared images with deep contrast and dramatic tonal separation.

Because of the very high infrared wavelength requirement, the IR850 filter is recommended for use with infrared-converted cameras where the internal infrared cut filter has been removed.

Professional Infrared Photography

Infrared photography requires specialized equipment and filters to capture wavelengths outside the visible spectrum. KANI Infrared Filters are carefully designed to provide stable infrared transmission characteristics while maintaining high image quality.

When combined with infrared-converted cameras, these filters allow photographers to create highly artistic images with unique textures, tones, and contrast. Clouds become more dramatic, vegetation reflects infrared light intensely, and ordinary landscapes are transformed into surreal scenes.

These filters are suitable for both experienced infrared photographers and photographers who want to begin exploring the world of infrared imaging. Different filter types allow photographers to gradually experiment with stronger infrared effects depending on their shooting style and post-processing preferences.

Recommended Applications

  • Infrared landscape photography
  • Monochrome infrared photography
  • False-color infrared photography
  • Fine art photography
  • Nature and forest photography
  • Architecture and cityscape photography
  • Long exposure infrared photography
  • Creative artistic photography
  • Black and white infrared imaging

IR580 67mm / 72mm / 77mm / 82mm
IR720 58mm / 67mm / 72mm / 77mm / 82mm
IR850 67mm / 72mm / 77mm / 82mm

Specifications

Effect Infrared transmission / Visible light blocking
Filter Types IR580 / IR720 / IR850
Available Sizes 67mm / 72mm / 77mm / 82mm
Front Filter Thread Same size as filter diameter (lens caps and additional filters can be attached)
